Kevin Gabelein

As Team Lead of HSA, part of the Tax & Consulting team at Coldstream, Kevin is responsible for setting strategy, talent management and development, and setting the financial direction of the team.  In his capacity as a Team Lead, Kevin manages a group of professionals, focusing on growth, career development, and excellent client service. He also serves on the Corporate Development team at Coldstream that is responsible for inorganic growth at the firm.

Since 2015, Kevin has also been a Managing Partner of Hersman Serles Almond, a tax-focused CPA firm that merged into Coldstream in 2023. As Managing Partner, Kevin leads a growing and dedicated team of like-minded professionals who share his passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals.

Prior to Coldstream, Kevin was a Managing Director at Fluke Venture Partners for 11 years, a Pacific Northwest venture capital and private equity firm. Kevin has also worked in Seattle as a corporate attorney with Riddell Williams and served as a CPA with Price Waterhouse. Kevin earned his bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Washington and his JD from the Southern Methodist University School of Law.

THE MOST TREASURED THINGS I OWN

I love to read and am commonly in the middle of multiple Audibles and physical books at any point in time.  My most treasured book is an old Bible that I’ve had since I was a teenager.  It’s filled with notes and markings and the binder is hanging together by a thread–it’s old and looks old!

ONE PIECE OF ADVICE

I’ve been blessed to have several mentors, each at a different stage of my career.  Whether you are young or old, look for mentor opportunities–pour into the next generation.

HOBBIES

I love spending time in Sun Valley and Palm Springs golfing, skiing, and hiking.  I like to watch UW football and basketball.  I also love wine collecting and tasting.
