Rush Benton, CFA®

Rush Benton’s career in the wealth industry spans nearly four decades. He brings extensive M&A experience to Coldstream having been involved in 70+ wealth firm M&A transactions. Until recently, Rush served as a C-suite executive at CAPTRUST, where he played a key role in driving significant growth and scaling the firm for more than a decade. His expertise will be invaluable as Coldstream continues its growth trajectory while maintaining its commitment to independence from private equity. Rush is highly aligned with Coldstream’s philosophy of building and growing a purpose-driven business. He is a strong cultural fit with Coldstream, having established a solid relationship with our team as a lead executive at CAPTRUST, where he frequently engaged with Coldstream regarding potential mergers and acquisitions. Now, following his departure from CAPTRUST, we are pleased to welcome him to Coldstream.

Rush’s career in the wealth industry spans nearly four decades, with significant stints at various influential firms before joining CAPTRUST in 2013. He founded Weaver Barksdale & Associates, an institutional investment manager in Nashville, Tennessee. Later he led WealthTrust, a conglomerate of high-net-worth wealth firms managing approximately $6 billion, and then spent 2½ years as managing partner at Benton Capital Partners, an M&A consulting firm. Rush Benton holds an economics degree from Vanderbilt University. Rush is the co-founder and CEO of Gorman Jones, a wealth management-focused investment bank, demonstrating that he remains actively engaged in the industry. His extensive experience and leadership make him exceptionally well-positioned to advise Coldstream as a Board member.
