John has been actively involved in real estate investment for over thirty years. From 2000 to late 2014 he was the CEO of Security Properties a national real estate company specializing in the acquisition, development, and operation of multifamily real estate. Prior to 2000 he served in various other capacities at Security Properties including Senior Vice President and President of First Columbia Corporation, its affiliated broker/dealer. Over his career John has helped structure hundreds of agreements between real estate sponsors and investors. While CEO of Security Properties John was responsible for the underwriting, capitalization, and operation of over $2.5 billion in real estate involving over $830 million in equity contributed by both institutions and high net worth investors. At the time of his retirement Security Properties had monetized assets representing $382 million of the aforementioned contributed equity generating profits of over $200 million. Prior to Security Properties John was a member of Arthur Andersen’s tax department. John received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Allegheny College, graduating magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. John also earned a law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Prior to his retirement John was involved in many business and non-profit groups or boards including: The Urban Land Institute’s Multifamily Gold Council, National Multi-Housing Council, National Association of Home Builders Multifamily Leadership Board, Seattle’s Childhaven.
